We are looking for volunteers both in Lima-Peru and "world-wide".

URGENT: Whole Class Drama practitioners needed in Lima-Perú

As a result of our recent contact with Patrice Baldwin we are looking for two Whole Class Drama (Wcd) practitioners to prepare and teach lessons in English and History using Wcd in disadvantaged primary schools in Villa María del Triunfo, Lima-Perú.

Video: Performing Arts classes in school I.E. 7502 Campamento Atocongo in 2010.

This "favoured" school is supported by the NGO Assoc Atocongo.

The plan is to implement new courses here and then begin rolling out to other less fortunate schools in the district.

Michael Beron helped Prof Flores from July-August 2010 to teach the Performing Arts in three primary schools in Villa Maria del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores and Lurin.

What made the biggest impression on me was the closeness that is possible to achieve between teachers and students. The school seems to hold a very important place in the lives of the children and young people because it offers the possibility for encounter with companions, interchanges of experiences, preoccupations etc., to play and to amuse themselves. Compared to my country, Germany, where the schools are more institutionalized and the relations are more formal between teachers and student, it seems that in Peru (Villa Maria) the young people love their school and teachers more because it gives them space from the economic problems and the physical or psychological violence that often there is in their house. In fact many professors do not take advantage of this possibility; of being not only a teacher, but also someone who treats them like human beings. But there are a few very good examples and I believe that there is the possibility to improve on it.

Lena Wagner taught Painting, English, Carpentry and Drama in two primary schools in Villa Maria del Triunfo (Juan Valer Sandoval and Villa Alejandro) and one in Lurin (Rodrigo Lara Bonilla) from Feb to August 2010.
Positive experiences:- the interest and curiosity of the students to learn something new - the dedication by some teachers to try to always get the best from the children

Positive experiences:- the interest, curiosity and the desire of the students to learn something new.- the motivation of some professors and parents to get the best for children.What didn't you like?- frustration at the lack of interest by some teachers who do not have the interest to learn new methods to improve the quality of their classes - the breach of discipline and the violence
